Stakeholder engagement

We engage with a broad range of stakeholders to understand their concerns and expectations and help mobilize action for sustainable agriculture.

Our belief that no single business or organization can do enough by itself is encapsulated in the partnering for impact goal of our Good Growth Plan. In our experience, frank conversations about the tradeoffs and adjustments associated with sustainability and new agricultural technologies have always led to clear, shared recommendations, commitments, and actions.

Interacting with our stakeholders

We engage and partner with growers, industry peers, the food value chain, universities, NGOs, governments, and communities around the world in different ways. Among the many collaborations we have embarked on, we entered a multi-year Innovation for Nature partnership with The Nature Conservancy (TNC) and expanded our cooperation with the Solidaridad Network.

We also support a wide range of initiatives and are members of different organizations and associations, both globally and locally. And we regularly gather input from our stakeholders to learn about consumers’ perception of topics associated with agriculture and our industry. Their feedback informs our materiality matrix.

A detailed discussion of how we engage with stakeholders, including recent examples and a list of our key global memberships and the initiatives we support, can be found in our ESG Report.

We also publish answers to frequently asked questions from stakeholders on our corporate website.

Engaging with communities

We believe, we are part of the communities we operate in and thus have a part to play in community life. It’s in our interest to listen to our neighbors, protect our common environment, promote health, and improve the quality of life in the communities.

Fostering open and constructive dialogue is part of every site manager’s job. We expect them to be visible, available, and responsive to local concerns – whether these relate to the impact of our operations or to community needs. In addition to offering donations and facilities, we believe we contribute best when we transfer knowledge – applying the practical skills and expertise we’ve gained from our operations.
